Thank you for the memories in 2024!

Another one in the bag! From all of us at Reroot to you, our community and backbone, we’d like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU for sticking around for another year. As we continue to grow as a company, we want to ensure we stay true to our commitment to you and our extended family to keep you in the loop on the impact we’ve had on our communities.

We are eternally grateful to every person who came to a tour and made donations of supplies or through Patreon to our extended families in Cuba and El Salvador. However, while reflecting on our last year, it’s hard to look past the intangibles. We created these tours to provide an opportunity for connection. Connection to the land, people and stories but most of all, to each other. Every chance we have to host a group is an opportunity to create community with each other. CRAZY CONCEPT, we know!

But sometimes, it works. These are some stories we’re the most proud to share as Reroot Victories in 2024.

Colleen and Derek have been longtime followers of Dr. Kiona and reached out to us with an idea at the beginning of 2024. Recently suffering the loss of their infant daughter, they decided they wanted to honor the memory of their baby by turning their grief into acts of positivity through donating all their unused medical supplies to the Cuban hospitals. There was no way we were ever going to say no to this. We worked with Derek and Collen and arranged a private trip for this special couple to come to Cuba complete with a personalized itinerary designed to reconnect with each other. Our Cuban team even arranged the chance for them to plant a tree in Viñales so the memory of their late daughter may live on.

This trip remains our personal highlight of 2024 and one of the most important moments we’ve been lucky to be a part of as a company. Thank you again to Colleen and Derek for allowing us to share these moments with you.

Every business loves repeat customers and we’re no different. We might be a little biased but we think ours are more special. In November 2023 we had the pleasure of hosting a group of truly exceptional ladies on our Cuban Educational Tour. Their vibes were immaculate from the start and over the course of those 5 days, these strangers became friends, really good friends. The group chat kept buzzing. Virtual weddings were attended. This group found each other for a reason.

It was no surprise when we got a message that they were planning on coming to another trip with Reroot. Not a couple of them, ALL OF THEM. Now, it’s not unusual for folks to come to multiple trips, but AN ENTIRE GROUP? That’s special. With husbands in tow and despite some unfortunate drop outs, the group of friends came to El Salvador on their second trip with Reroot and are our MVPs for 2024.

It is such a blessing to have seen you meet as strangers and grow together in friendship and community under our noses. We cannot wait to see you again in Hawai’i (wink wink)!

There are so many moments where our impact can’t be quantified. Yes, our donation programs have provided so many Cuban doctors with the tools to treat patients and save lives. We were able to outfit our boys in El Salvador with proper PPE to safely go to their constructions jobs. We opened a new nail salon in El Tunco where the ladies are part owners, not just employees. These are all things that anyone can post on social media as success stories but the things we hold dear to us the most are the things that are hard to capture.

The birthday celebrations, the support of 10 screaming strangers when you finally ride a wave. The laughs together after one too many cocktails. The silent moments while we watch a sunrise or a sunset. Falling off a horse. Learning a new dance. The tears we shed when it’s time to go back to the real world and the plans we make to see each other again. Those are the moments we share but we can’t post. We can’t put them on the spreadsheets. We can’t assign them a dollar value. Those moments are priceless. The friendships and connections we have made over the last few years are what we are most proud of today.

We’d like to say a huge THANK YOU again to everyone who has joined us in 2024 and years gone by. We’re sure we’ll see you again very soon.
